Meet Laurelle, makeup artist and aesthetician by day, beauty blogger by night. We caught up with this multi-talented beautician around all things beauty.
What inspired you to start Paint Me Pretty and how long has your blog been around?
I have always had a love for the beauty industry. I am a professional makeup artist and aesthetician and I love sharing my passion and knowledge with others. I thought a blog would be a great way to share my passion with others. I just recently started my blog so it’s only been up and running since June 2013.
How did you come up with the name “Paint Me Pretty”?
I wanted to come up with a catchy name that would describe my blog in the best way. Since I specialize in makeup and nails I settled with the name “Paint Me Pretty”. You paint your nails and I’ve always thought of the face as a blank canvas for me to create my work of art.
Do you have a “daytime job”? If so where is it?/what do you do?
I do have a day job. I work at a salon called ‘Jolie Beauty Bar’ at Avenue Road and Lawrence as a makeup artist and aesthetician. I specialize in nails and makeup.

My makeup bag always consists of the following:

Do you have a beauty regimen? If so, what is it?
My beauty regimen consists of cleansing and moisturizing my face every night. I use One Love Organics ‘Easy Does It’ and ‘Skin Savior’. I always tone my face with LUSH’s Tea Tree Water Toner. Occasionally I will exfoliate my face with One Love Organics ‘Brand New Day’ as well as apply a mask. My favourites are LUSH’s Fresh Face Masks, Origins Charcoal Mask and Boscia Green Tea Mask. I also always apply moisturizer to my face in the mornings before I apply my makeup.
If you were on a desert island and could only have one nail polish colour with you what would it be?
‘Every Month Is Oktober Fest’ by OPI (it’s a deep dark burgundy)

Lipstick colour of the season?
It’s a tie between MAC’s Russian Red and Diva.
What’s the one beauty myth you’d like to break?
The one beauty myth I would like to break is that Gel Polish, Acrylic and Gel Nails damages your nails.
