Another Wednesday, another ASC DIY! This time, we turned to Vanessa Cesario of The Brunette Salad to show us how she puts together her everyday makeup look, including the always pretty nude lip and the sexy cat eye.
I am by no means a makeup expert. But I am someone who’s been wearing makeup for about 10 years AND have a best friend that is a super talented makeup artist…so I think that counts for something, right? I may not be able to do a crazy peacock eye (nor would I want do) but I can manage a pretty decent “kicked up” natural face…a.k.a winged liner and nude lips. Keep reading to see how to I do it.
THE GOODS
All c/o Forever 21. Exact products including colours listed under each step.
STEP 1: FOUNDATION
You know the drill. Put on your “face” face first before you start the fun stuff. I use the basics – cream concealer, B.B cream, bronzer and contour when I’m feeling spicy.

STEP 2: LASHES
Glue on lashes can be tricky, but luckily I personally am a bona fide false eyelash ninja. Try-hard high school days + a nightclub job has rendered me a seasoned veteran in this department. You’ll get the hang of it after a while, too.

STEP 3: LINER
While I won’t say this is my desert island pick (because good skin rules all and I’d choose foundation) felt tip eyeliner would be my second most vital makeup item. Seriously, a cat eye does unexplainable things to the face. I’ve been wearing it since I was 16 and probably won’t stop till my eyelids are so saggy I can’t access them anymore. My most helpful tip would be to rest your hand on your cheek and start with small strokes, then join the small strokes together.

STEP 4: MASCARA
Another vital step. If I’m not doing a full cat eye, I’m at least doing mascara. Mascara makes me happy (can you tell?). This one is super black and sticks to the ends of the lashes like primer. Make sure to curl your lashes first!

STEP 5: LIPSTICK & LIPGLOSS
While I do have a special place in my heart for a dark, vampy lip, sometimes it’s just too high maintenance (or I have boys to kiss). That’s when a nude lip comes in. Tip: you’ll probably have a better chance at finding boys to kiss with a nude lip, because I’ve heard dark lipstick scares boys. Oh well. #manrepelling
