Red Carpet Review: The 72nd Annual Golden Globe® Awards

& ASC.

The 72nd Annual Golden Globe® Awards have already been and gone, yet the ongoing debate of who won the red carpet has been a hot topic here at ASC all day. From pops of yellow, head-to-toe metallic, turquoise detailing and more, it wasn’t easy coming to a conclusion on who wore it best (or worst), but the votes are closed and ballots are in.

Now, without further ado, the nominees for best dressed are:

Sienna Miller (Miu Miu, Tiffany & Co.) – A recurring frontrunner on the red carpet, Sienna stayed true to her bohemian style with messy waves and a natural pink lip which paired perfectly with her champagne V- neck and Tiffany & Co. bracelets.

Emma Stone (Lanvin) – Leave it to Emma Stone to ditch the dress and instead do a modern jumpsuit with an all-over embellished top. Emma looked effortlessly flawless last night from her hair to her heels, and we love the bright red on her lip to tie it all in together.

Reese Witherspoon (Calvin Klein Collection, Tiffany & Co.) – Walking the red carpet in head–to-toe metallic, Reese Witherspoon was, as always, a showstopper last evening. Although some debate about the fit, we think Calvin Klein Collection looked flawless on her figure, and her Tiffany & Co. accessories were absolutely spot on.

And the winner is:

Emily Blunt (Michael Kors) – Walking the red carpet looking almost ethereal, Emily’s elegant wrap-around braid and smokey eye was perfection with her white gown. Not to mention her earrings- the combination of turquoise and diamond was gorgeous.

Now for the easier of the two categories. Here are the nominees for worst dressed:

Kerry Washington (Mary Katrantzou) – As much as we love purple tones and metallic, we really dislike them mixed together. If this wasn’t enough, the tea- length is awkward and the silhouette, very unflattering on Kerry’s curvy figure.

Keira Knightley (Chanel) – We understand that Keira’s trying to cover her baby bump, but this butterfly detailed bubble dress does not do the actress justice. Try as you may to defend Chanel on this one but Keira looked frumpy, and the three-tiered ruffled bottom was dangerously close to cringe-worthy.

Melissa McCarthy (From her closet) – We love Melissa, we really do, but this DIY satin bow-tie dress was just wrong. The sleeves are outdated, the ruffles are unflattering, the bow is floppy, etc. On top of that her shoes just don’t match. A positive note- Melissa’s makeup is flawless, so we’ll give her that.

And the winner is:

Claire Danes (Valentino) – This look has potential, but the ill-fitting top and dull colours sort of resemble the look of a vintage couch – the kind you want to get upholstered ASAP.
