DIY: Pineapple Vase

& ASC, Lifestyle.

As you know, we love a cute DIY. And a cute DIY involving fruit? Even better! Michelle Agnelo from Peachy Vida shows us how to work the pineapple trend for a tropical centerpiece at a party.

It’s true that beautiful fresh flowers make any space nicer, and even though they don’t last forever, they are still worth having (I’m talking to all you cheap boyfriends). Below is a killer combo DIY for your place involving two of my fave things: pineapples and flowers.

This DIY Pineapple Flower Vase takes only minutes to create, and leaves you with a tropical centerpiece that when your flowers start to wilt, you can toss out too (yay for no storage!). Almost as good, you’re left with a super fresh snack since a peachy vida does not involve wasting food. This reminds me of Hawaii, and if you can get your hands on a Maui pineapple, more power to ya!

What you will need:

  • A ripe pineapple
  • A pineapple corer-slicer
  • Fresh flowers

Grab your ripe pineapple, lay it on its side and slice off the head in a level stroke.TIP: you can tell if your pineapple is ripe by grabbing the tip of one of its leaves and pulling. If the leaf comes out easily, it’s ready to eat. Next, stand your pineapple back up and line up your corer-slicer (possibly the best kitchen invention ever) with the center. With medium force, turn the corer-slicer until you hit the base of the pineapple, and pull out to leave a perfectly scooped shell and delicious pineapple rings. Most corer-slicers come with a little add-on piece too that you can then use to easily slice your pineapple rings into wedges.

Put your favourite blooms in your new hollow pineapple shell & voila! A beautiful pineapple flower vase for your countertop, patio or even a  super awesome boho wedding. For a twist on this DIY, use your hollow pineapple shell for a mega cocktail cup or fruitbowl and wow your guests!
